THE CLASS OF 2008
THE PLAYERS:
David Alves
Ashley’s new Spanish international leg spinner arrived toward the back end
of the 2007 season after an abrupt end to his 25 year long association with
Hale Barns CC. "Almo" is a MBCCL Division 1 stalwart and has played on many
occasions for the league team. A very late order batter Almo is never gonna
be classified as an all rounder (as his fellow contender for the #11 spot
;o) but as a front line bowler he will surely pull up trees for Ashley
during the coming years.
Adam Andrews
The mainstay of the 1XI batting in the 2005 championship winning side, Adam
turned up on a wet, dark Thursday 2 days before the season started as a
bowler who batted a bit. He turned out to be our leading run scorer and an
excellent slipper. Scored the first Ashley ton for several years at Offerton
and also chipped in with a handful of wickets during the season. Adam has
now left us to further his career in Melbourne where he has hung his boots
up to concentrate on the mad game of "footy". Oz took a ribbing through the
Ashes summer and was a great bloke to have around in a hugely enjoyable
season.
Ian Barber
Rubbish right arm over and portly right hand middle order bat, "Barbs"
joined the club from Oulton CC in Yawkshire a couple of years back and has
somehow turned out to be the divisions leading all-rounder both years. Bowls
mainly at the middle order when Woodsy and Ed have got all the decent
batters out. Loves bad bowling, bad batters, sunbeds and talking all things
Yorkshire. Hates good bowling, good batters, catching, and not getting the
chance of a sleep in the afternoon. Barbs led the 1XI to Div 2 promotion in
2006 and is currently teaching his baby daughter how to make teas for 25 on
a Saturday. Ian was a groundsman at Yorkshire CCC, Leedscum United FC and is
now the head curator at Cheadle CC and consultant at Cheadle Hulme CC.
Brian Birtles
A very tall right arm over medium fast bowler in the final throes of his
career. Brian played his early years at Offerton CC before seeing the light
and joining ACC. Troubled by bad knees, as the years go by we increasingly
believe that the only way to prolong his career is to have caster wheels
fitted. Brian used to rip out top orders for fun and was an ever present in
the 2X1 league averages every year without fail. Reluctant to spend more
than one winter in five at home Brian is more regularly seen on Sky Sports
at test match grounds in the sun rather than in the local pub. The last few
years has seen him take in 4 Ashes series, 2 Sri Lankan series, a World Cup
and tour in South Africa, a Caribbean tour and the 2006 India tour. Despite
approaching semi-retirement due to an accumulation of injuries, Brian is the
driving force behind Ashley's renaissance and given that he is a baseball
fan it would be appropriate to say that he is Ashley CC's General Manager!
Known as “Burlington” or “Big Bird”. Brian has the misfortune of scoring the
1XI book every game and for this he gets our sympathies.
John Brownhill
John is a very tall young man who makes Brian Birtles look like Gimli. He is
an awkward right arm over bowler who generates considerable swing, and has
developed into a good top order batsman in the 2XI. John followed up an
impressive debut 2X1 season in 2005 with another great season scoring 306
runs at 28. Bizarrely, John is a season ticket holder at Queens Park Rangers
for no real reason that we can determine and follows the Rs home and away
religiously. Is known as Crouchy and loves wearing fleeces.
Mike Burgess
Now at University, doing a proper degree, English. Mike has scored a couple
of 3XI 50’s, is ready for the step up to 2XI cricket, indeed should be
pushing for 1XI.
Pete Burgess
Pete is a middle order right hand batsman and a particularly awkward left
arm over bowler who has now taken over the 3XI Captaincy for 2008. Now back
playing after a terrible shattered knee and ligament injury suffered after
falling out of a nightclub in Manchester. Pete is a popular tourist with an
extensive and often offensive vocabulary. Affectionately known as “Telly
Tubby” “George Dawes” or “Shrek”.
John Burt
Kiwi Big John stopped playing rugby at a fairly good standard at the
insistence of his wife who wanted him to avoid injury; early in the cricket
season he dislocated his finger and when he asked one of his team mates to
“pull it back into place” they all shrank away so he drove to hospital in
his whites to get the job done properly. User of the Big Kahuna to great
effect he wants to score a shed-full this year.
Khalid Butt
A real bonus to ACC in 2006, Khalid was clearly far too good for the MBCCL
as he smashed 418 runs at 70 in only 8 innings before returning home to
Pakistan. He could also bowl a bit too with 18 wickets at 12! Khalid was
lovely fella who had played a couple of 1st Class games in Pakistan many
years ago and simply wanted to have a game for a few weeks before returning
home when his work visa expired. Probably the best batsmen ever seen down at
Ashley, however brief his stay.
Kevin Coates
Another product of the renowned Shell nursery that has produced such
luminaries as Nick Holt and Ed Hall. Kev is a free scoring middle order
batsmen and handy right arm seamer who played a little for the 2XI last year
but started his ACC career as an integral 1XI player. An excellent
specialist short leg, Kev also answers to the name “Vidal” and is currently
enjoying a sabbatical from playing but we hope to see a little of him during
2008.
Steve Coleman
Another regular in last years Friendly XI now 4th Vice captain and an Aston
Villa fan, no nickname as yet
Liam Cusack
3XI all-rounder and gregarious wit, also Sgt Dobermann from Bilko look a
like; Liam has become a true Ashley stalwart in a short space of time.
Recruited from the Railway pub side Liam has shown he is far from a pub
player. Horse racing fanatic and the clubs overseas host. Also part time
matchmaker, with a rather low success rate so far.
Trevor Daly
A 2007 winter signing Trev hailed from Laanecoorie-Dunolly Cricket Club in
the Maryborough cricket association in Melbourne and has played U18s state
representative cricket. A tall fast bowler in the early stages of his
cricket career Trev took 30 wickets and scored 150 runs on wickets that were
far from suited to his extreme pace. Good player and lovely bloke to have
the round the club making valuable contributions to the club on and off the
field.
David Deans
A 2007 winter signing, the ex-Timperley CC 1X1 skipper should strengthen the
top order and add a bit more depth to the bowling attack, has a 7-for to his
name. A good slipper and cover fielder, rumours are that he signed when he
heard about the quality of the home made cakes at tea. Hailing from Belfast,
he still dreams of being an Irish international, though it’s blatantly
obvious that his only chance of representing Ireland is for kebab eating.
Known as "Dixie".
Dan Eadie
3XI leading wicket taker in 2006 Dan takes his bowling very seriously, has
thrown the odd strop when removed from the attack, another Railway recruit.
Needs to work on his celebration when taking a caught and bowled.
Jamil Felix
Jimmy returned to the club after a few years out pursuing his singing dream
and doing his bit for the youth policy. 2007 was a productive year after
closing his 2006 season with a glut of runs, Jimmy scored 260 runs at 30
despite working the night shift before the game and then going straight back
to work after the game. Also featured with a half century in the famous away
win at CCCL side Winnington Park.
Simon Ferris
A right arm swing bowler, right handed middle order batsmen and occasional
wicketkeeper for the 3XI, Simon has been with the club for many years and
last year made his highest score of 96 for the 3XI. Simon also acts as the
ACC Web Meister and is yet another bitter blue from the 3XI stronghold and
known as “Bob”.
Sean Flynn
A destructive right hand bat and an outstanding 1XI wicket keeper (and off
spinner he likes to believe), Sean is Ashley’s resident eco-warrior and a
hugely popular member of the club whilst simultaneously managing to live on
another planet. When on 94 not out several seasons ago and having hit 4
consecutive sixes, he saw the headlines in the Manchester Evening News, was
dazzled by the lights and went for the fifth one. He was caught on the
boundary edge. Good work fella!!! Known as “FlynnBob" he is mad as a box of
frogs, and currently on a sabbatical in Tokyo learning Aikido from a 900
year old master. Wax on, wax off!!
Sean Gosling
2007 marked Gozza’s return to the club after almost a decade away and he
made several telling contributions at the top of the 1XI order despite
suffering terribly with injuries. Hard to get him to commit to too many
games, prefers the Mediterranean climate
Jon Griffiths
Formerly the long time 1XI skipper until the debacle at the close of the
2004 season when the club was shafted by the negligence of the league
executive committee, an insular league management committee and the
desperate straw clutching of Barnton CC. But he isn’t bitter. A versatile
left hand bat who can bat anywhere in the order (some would say 11 is about
right!) and can be both a big-hitter or defensive wall when required. Can
bowl left arm pies in the nets that come complete with salad and chips.
Regrettably Griff got his first wicket in the last game of the 2006
promotion winning season in what was in effect a beer game. It should have
been declared a no ball as he had his Ashley cap on at the time. Known as “Griff”
or Welsh tw@t and a terrible loser.
Ed Hall
The club's king of swing, Ed is right-arm opening bowler and left handed bat
who loves long spells and running half marathons. Ed who was outstanding in
2005 picking up 50 wickets and some valuable runs down the order, not least
in the final game against Norbury. Ed swings it both ways at a good pace,
but it has been known for him to get a little tetchy at times. Known by some
as “Ed the Chuck” and as “Albert” by others, Ed has been heavily involved in
the junior coaching down at Ashley particularly the Under 9's. Currently
recuperating after a hernia operation that will no doubt curb his
socialising.
Nomaan Hasan
Turned up at indoor nets in early 2007 and bowled his way into contention
for a 1XI spot with a run up that goes back further than an elephants
foreskin. Moves the ball away from the right hander, but does use his own
new ball each week, let’s see what he can do once the openers have been
smashed all over the park.
Darren Hatchell
Darren is a right-handed middle order bat for the 2XI and very, very
occasional right bowler of varying pace and direction. Wielding a bat that
Lance Kleusener would turn down as being a bit heavy, Darren has often made
valuable contributions in the middle order for the 1XI and loves nothing
better than prowling the covers. Despite losing about 3 stone and not having
an ounce on him anymore he retains his nickname of "Cuddly”, is Head of
Youth Development co-ordinating the youth cricket at Ashley and is heavily
in running the U13's and U15's. Has retired from Saturday cricket and given
up smoking, let’s see which goes first.
Steve Havery
A seasoned campaigner since the Boer Wars, Steve was for decades Ashley’s
1XI and later 2XI wicketkeeper despite starting his Ashley career as a seam
bowler and middle order batsman, Steve took up the gloves after some
persuasion from his mentor Geoff “The Fox” Garnett and became one of the
finest keepers in any division that he played in. In the top 3 keepers
averages each and every year, Steve was an exceptional at standing up to
slow bowling, and in tandem with his spar Garnett, they formed a deadly
combination. Caught Havery, Bowled Garnett. Now retired from his more recent
role as Head Curator, Steve can now be found taking in games all over
Cheshire. If you want the weather forecast and very poor jokes then Steve’s
yer man!! Known as “Havo”.
Dave Hewitt
A long time top order bat for the 1X1, Dave has spent a couple of years away
from the game due to affairs of the heart, and contributing to the ACC youth
policy. Also known for his medium paced dibley dobleys, especially in the
wet and darkness of midweek cup games, Dave has been compared to Chris
Tavare in his ability to race along to big scores. He is renowned for his
ability to fall asleep in curry houses; known as “Ted”.
Rob Hill
Big Man U, and LA Galaxy fan, Rob is an absolute beginner at the game,
brought his family to watch his debut at Mobberley last season; his Mum was
sledging the Ashley skipper from the sidelines for not bowling him more. She
has now been approached to skipper the 2nd team.
Simon Hill
One of the few Ashley players to reside in the village, also one of the
clubs sponsors with generous donations of his company’s product for Man of
the Match awards.
Nick Holt
Recruited to Ashley from the Shell academy, Nick is a brisk left arm swing
and seam bowler. A right hand bat with a good technique and an excellent and
committed fielder Nick has suffered greatly in the last few years with a
glass back that finally seems to have healed and we are looking forward to
plenty from him in 2008. Nick is another who has a new baby son destined for
greatness with the Ashley Colts. In 2006 his 10th wicket partnership with
Woodsy at local rivals Bowdon Vale doubled the team score of 45 to give the
bowlers a chance to win the game - which Ed Hall took superbly. Nick then
spent the remainder of the season cursing that he was not promoted to a top
6 batting spot!
Alistair Horn
A young player who has come on dramatically in the last season with his
aggressive middle batting not unlike his father. Also an outstanding
fielder, Alistair plays regularly for the 2XI and 3XI and like father like
son, he hates United with a passion. Ali is now our Cheshire County League
representative, which should enable him to catch up some much needed sleep.
Known as “Bowling”.
Ian Horn
Our esteemed former Chairman, Ian is a veteran right arm swing bowler and
heavy hitting mid order batsman for the 3XI. For decades he has been the
cement binding the club together; performing a key role in the running of
the cub and has boundless enthusiasm. Enjoys putting cricket balls in the
field and on the roof and loves being bitter about United from morning till
night. Known to his eternal dismay as “Horny”, Ian was the clubs leading
allrounder in 2005 with an outstanding season for the 3XI, but had a shocker
on tour! Took 8 holidays last year, (he has cut back to only 5 for the
coming season) it cost him £20 a game to play
Martin Howe
Mid Cheshire league football referee and Conference linesman, sorry Blue
Square Premier referees assistant, bowls off spin with a leggies action, or
is it the other way round? Martin joined the club in ’07 and if football
appointments permit he is looking to stake a claim in the 4XI in 2008.
Dave Jackson
The current figurehead and chairman of the club, an Old Alts and Ashley
stalwart and possibly one of only two players to have played regularly in
every season of the Cheshire Cricket League. Dave is an orthodox left arm
slow bowler, a legendary gully fieldsman, and versatile batsman with 1XI and
2XI centuries to his name. For the past couple of years Dave has been a 2XI
regular though as the years pass he is now becoming more selective about his
games whilst also serving on the league executive committee, is now
assistant league Secretary. Known as “Jacko” or “2 Sheds”, has a passing
resemblance to Alfred Hitchcock.
Paul Kirrane
Paul joined in 2006 from Stretford CC played mostly for the 1X1 in 2006 and
perhaps didn’t score as heavily as he would have liked though he was
certainly the match winner at Barrow with a hard hitting 43 which turned the
game. A regular tourist even when at Stretford, Paul is also an excellent
fielder and 2006 saw the arrival of a baby daughter who is destined to be a
legendary tea maker!
Craig Knight
A fresh arrival in 2006, Craig escaped across the border from Oulton CC in
Yawkshire to live in Poynton, and after tiring of commuting back to
Yawkshire for his cricket joined Ashley through his mate fatboy Barber. He
enjoyed a good start to his Ashley career opening the innings scoring over
1000 runs in two seasons. A good slipper, an excellent fielder and
occasional wicketkeeper, he has assumed the role of Vice Captain for 2008.
Craig was a groundsman at Yorkshire CCC, Leedscum United FC and is now
groundsman at a private school in Cheshire and also consults at Cheadle
Hulme CC. Known as "CJ".
Paul Leach
Recent arrival in 2004 Paul has limited availability due to his job as a
neuro-surgeon. Given the importance of his hands to his job of work, it does
seem a tad foolhardy that he is so keen to play cricket particularly on
Cheshire wickets! A quick scoring mid-order bat, Paul is another outstanding
cover fielder who slots in seamlessly into any team at the club and enjoys
his cricket whether 1X1, 2X1 or 3X1. Known as "Brains" he too has a little
boy lined up to be the wicket keeper batsman for the Ashley Colts.
Will Lewis
Currently enjoying a sabbatical dedicated to his pursuit of stella fuelled
happiness, Will is a quality right handed opening batsman who sells his
wicket very dearly. Thankfully keeps his extremely airy off spin will be
kept under wraps, despite this somehow picking up 3-2 at Norbury. An
outstanding fielder, which is good news for Tymsy as Will can chase the pies
that he delivers! Will made his tour debut in Torquay in 2004 sporting
apple-whites and is known as "Willis".
Rob McKie
Opening bowler for the 3XI and very good prospect for the future Rob has a
yard of pace and looks to have a great future at Ashley. Rob has been
heavily involved in the junior coaching down at Ashley. His younger brother
may be an even better player.
Ross McKinstry
Now in his 5th season at Ashley, Ross is an established 2XI all rounder and
outstanding fielder. An integral part of the 20/20 and 2XI championship
promotion winning side, Ross also made several telling contributions for the
1XI in 2007 where he is all-round talents were evident.
Ian Mobley
Ian is a handy wicket-keeper batsman who does not play for the 2XI as often
as he would like due to business commitments. A regular tourist and valuable
member of the club, to his eternal sorrow, Ian is a doppelganger for Anthony
Worral-Thompson, hence his nickname of “Chef”. He is highly unlikely to
offer a glowing recommendation for Rover cars after a disastrous Torquay
tour of in 2003.
Andy Murray
A solid right handed bat, and a very occasional right arm medium bowler,
Andy is another vital and long standing member of the club and was for
several years the 2XI Captain guiding them to 2nd place in the 2004 & 2005
championship, and promotion during the 2006 season in addition to the 20/20
KO Cup in the same season. He is a regular tourist and is a champion eater
of curry. Known as “Ruby” and one of the original Ashley Colts, now proud
father of a baby boy Archie.
Liam O’Doherty
Liam has been likened to Mark Ramprakash where once upon a time he was a
quality, opening batsman with an impeccable technique scoring heavily on a
regular basis against good attacks. However, just like Ramps, it all went
Pete Tong and he spends much of his spare time listening to all the voices
in his head each telling him to play a different shot!!! Affectionately
known as “Trigger” or “Ramps” in equal measure. Liam skippered the 1XI to
the 3rd Division championship in 2005 and did a cracking job before promptly
resigning!! Liam loves to wear sandals and socks and appalling Hawaian
shirts.
Chris Pendlebury
Chris, a cuddly strawberry blonde veteran, and formerly the 2XI Captain who
has been traversing the grounds of the MBCCL for many years, generally in a
circuitous route via any pub in the CAMRA real ale guide and many more that
are not. Chris is a canny right arm slow bowler who likes to give it plenty
of air and thinks it is unfair to the batters if he turns the ball. Despite
this he is an ever present in the 2XI league averages and is also renowned
for his batting prowess as a big hitting middle order batsman. A top man who
often doubles as handy man around the club, and given his size you would
have thought he would be a very handy man. Another committed and popular
tourist who gets up to many japes and scrapes with his partner in crime Pete
Roberts on a weekly basis. Chris is now over 50 years old and really should
know better. Known as “Pongo”.
George Power
Another graduate from the Shell academy, "Full" is an excellent right arm
opening swing bowler for the 2XI who cleaned up for an 8-16 in 2005,
including a hat trick and also smashed 20 odd off the last over against Lymm
last year to win. Swings it a mile and late too, in 2004 George took an
absolute blinder for the 1XI at Peover that is still talked about to this
day. Though a 2XI regular, GP continues to make occasional and telling
contributions to the 1X1 cause. As a driver, George has the directional
sense of a magnetic compass.
Zak Power
Power jnr is a feisty top order bat for the 1XI after graduating from the
2XI and scoring a shedful of runs. A decent swing bowler too who loves
nothing better than slagging off his Dads bowling, fielding and batting, and
throwing the occasional strop. The only player ever in the history of ACC to
have been dropped from playing because he was grounded by his Mum. Plenty of
talent, as shown by his debut 50, on debut for the 1XI last year. In 2006
Zak played for the MBCCL Colts team, and despite asking for a corkscrew to
open a bottle of Champagne, he should score heavily in the years ahead. In
2007 though he was rubbish and discovered how to throw a tantrum some 17
years after he should have done. Known as Audi (OOOO)
Dave Rice
2006 was Dave's best year to date scoring 2 centuries in amassing 625 runs
at 62.5. He generally plays better after getting absolutely mullered the
night before, having scored his previous two 2XI centuries when doing a very
good impersonation of the living dead. However, his golden duck at Ashton on
Mersey in a 1XI promotion decider in 2005 finally disproved this theory.
Occasionally accused of being ever so slightly vain, and a hypochondriac who
has been known to cry off with a misplaced hairbrush, Dave provides great
value to any side both on and off the field. Known as “Ricey” and more
recently “Gilderoy Lockhart” after the Harry Potter character. Dave is now
the clubs Child Protection Officer and is in training for the Wilmslow Half
Marathon, has had more injuries than Darren Anderton.
Pete Roberts
Robbo was rescued from grazing away his middle age in a paddock at Timperley
CC where he had been a feisty middle order batsman and military medium swing
bowler, in the County League for many years. He performs the same role for
Ashley 2XI only with a much admired ability to annoy and infuriate the
opposition beyond comprehension. We think he was born with the ability. He
has been a star performer in the 2XI for many years and can always be found
within giggling distance of his sparring partner Chris Pendlebury. Like
Chris, he has been known to take a pint of bitter at his leisure and is
another frequent tourist. Has many tales to tell, and is the source of much
amusement on a Saturday. Known as “Robbo” he is as mad as cheese! Has
probably retired, but you never know.
Dan Shelston
Dan, like Gary Tyms and Andy Murray is an ACC stalwart having played on the
same Ashley Colts side almost 20 years ago now. A right-hand bat who can
look like a really classy player and a complete blind Herbert within 2
consecutive balls. Dan enjoyed three successful years as 3XI Captain and
turned it around leading them to a fantastic season in his first year but
moreover ensuring it was a hugely enjoyable and inclusive season for all
those selected and one that saw the development of several younger players.
An excellent fielder and a real racing snake between the wickets, Dan likes
to study the form and is known as “Desperate”.
Nick Tavner
An opening bat who has moved serenely through the 3XI and 2XI to play for
the 1X1 at the end of the 2006 season, Nick has boundless enthusiasm and
looks to have the ability to score well in 2007 and beyond. Just missed out
on his first century last year for the 2XI with 98 not out, the skipper
(Ruby) tried to hit a single of the penultimate ball to get Nick back on
strike but it raced away for 4, maybe he should try that every week.
Phil Thompson
Now an established member of the top order in the 1XI after several years in
the 2XI academy, When in form Tommo scores quickly and heavily. Phil tends
to hit it very far and very hard and is an outstanding slip fielder with a
good pair of hands especially at tea-time. Surely 2008 is the year when he
fulfils his potential and scores big runs. Phil is big part of the 1XI craic,
and is seen by many as son of Pongo and also bears a passing resemblance to
"Caligula".
Jeff Thorpe
A solid middle order, right hand opening batsman of some power for the 3XI,
Jeff had a lean 2005 but is due a few in 2006. A part of Dan's 3XI army, and
Bar Chairman, Jeff is a regular tourist and an invaluable member of the
committee with some very handy DIY skills.
Kevin Tierney
What can we say about Kevin? Well for a start he's a right arm medium bowler
for the 3XI who holds the ball across the seam to stop it swinging about! He
crowned his 1XI debut with a wicket with his first ball and then had a dolly
dropped on his 3rd ball. Proud owner of a hat-trick against Sale CC, Kevin
is also a very individual batsman whose stock with the bat is rising quickly
and as a fielder he has been likened to Harry Worth. Another key member of
the committee, has held every job except Chairman, he provides considerable
commitment to the club and no little amusement. Known as “KT” and several
other names that we couldn’t possibly repeat.
Fran Turnbull
Yet another product of the Shell academy, a former Poynton wicket keeper
bat, Fran rekindled his interest in the game last year after a sabbatical. A
destructive middle order bat an absolutely outstanding fielder and good
wicket keeper, Fran will surely weigh in with plenty of runs, catches and
run outs in 2008. Fran also did his bit for the Colts in 2004.
Ryan Tute
"Bugsy" was a revelation in the 2XI for 2006 & 2007 taking important wickets
in miserly spells and will surely get plenty of overs in 2008 as he becomes
an integral part of the bowling attack exams permitting. Has filled out a
bit now he plays fly half for Kersal and looks a bit handy!
Gary Tyms
Once a fast bowler for the league side “when they didn’t give caps away with
a packet of cornflakes”. A product of the once fabled Ashley youth
production line that has produced many a great player such as............
Gary has matured into the role of a 1XI paunch hitter averaging 30 at the
back end of the 2007 season, and occasional medium pace change bowler. Gaz
is a huge fan of being negative and slagging off batters after seeing a 1st
innings shirt-front that he has toiled on turning into a bed of snakes
during the tea interval! Gary is a very bitter blue indeed and once
experienced trouble with his follow thru in a game at Bollington. Known
imaginatively as “Tymsy”, he may be looking forward to the cherry in the 2XI
in 2008.
John Ward
Ex-Old Alts player from the Jackson, Pendlebury & Horn era, still uses a
Gray Nichols scoop circa 1977, amazing considering he is a fully paid up
member of the bat chuckers club. Instrumental in the development of the
2006/7 friendly XI, he scored half the sides runs. Aiming for a regular 2XI
spot in 2008
Dave Woods
Woodsy has been the opening bowler for the 1XI for the several seasons
forming a potent new ball attack with Tyms and Hall. Was once a big hitting
late order batsmen but in the last couple of seasons appears to have lost

Now fully matured into a rather aggressive opening bowler for the 3XI, Will
can also wield the willow to good effect. Another tourist to Swansea, the
Carribean and South Africa. Known as “Verbal”. Not available very often in
2007, but hopefully the novelty has worn off and we will see him again in
