There were some promising efforts despite the 4ths coming up 50 runs short of Cheadle Hulme’s score. A great all-round performance from young Alex Eaton, who bowled with some pace and fell short of a deserved maiden fifity when he chipped a full toss to mid-wicket.  Edith bowled a magnificent spell when the long handle was out at the end of the Cheadle innings, and Steve Coleman reached double figures despite the trauma of running out Howe by half a pitch; this episode earned the Cheadle Hulme champagne moment as Martin set off after Steve’s call, stopped, started again, dropped his bat, carried on, went back for his bat, started running again and then walked off.
