Apologies for the lack of a match report from last week but I struggled to find the words to describe our experience at Davenham last week, if you’ve played there you can probably work it out yourself.

Anyway, this week’s game against Trafford MV followed a similar pattern to the away game, the side batting first getting off to a fair start but then falling away. This time TMV were 90 for 2 after 27 overs with Ladd going well, but the introduction of Ashley slow twins Alves and Deans saw Trafford collapse to 128 all out in 43 overs. Knight and Baythorpe maintained their average opening stand of 40 before an unusually lengthy innings from Jimmy Felix, including the shots of the day, back foot drives through the covers all along the floor for four, took the home side to the brink of victory. It was left to Barber, needing 27 balls to get off the mark, and Deans, 2 balls faced and still at the crease, to see the boys home to 20 points.

Next week we visit promoted, and good bye to them, Brooklands; they need half a dozen points to be confirmed as champions and everyone at ACC will congratulate them on money well spent. Craig Knight will have the arm band and at the toss he will, I’m sure, pass on Ian Barber’s best wishes to BCC skipper Madden, who was unfortunately unable to make the Ashley Race Night last Friday, he must have had a more lucrative ride somewhere else.
