CBG Group Ltd The Blue Caps arrived at HQ on a glorious sunny day to find another Dave Twiney special waiting, the Scoobies 4th different Skipper of the season Bitter Blue Tyms managed to lose the toss only to be surprised to be asked to bat. The returning Veteran opening partnership of Ricey and Wardy got off to a brisk start with John watchful whilst Ricey drove and cut uppishly frustrating the visitors. After Johns departure for a opening stand around the 50 mark the scene looked set for the Dangerous Brothers to make their mark, unfortunately H rammed a full toss down covers throat whilst Zac perhaps dreaming of the fuller figured lady played too early to the toiling Heaton’s slower ball. Looking to consolidate and to push on a 220 target Ricey & Jimmy took the singles on offer as the bowling tightened up. Following Ricey’s departure with one uppish shot too many Jimmy serenely moved through the gears with shots all around the wicket. A cameo from The Skipper including a first ball six ended quickly, support came from debutant John Gibson and Nick, until Jimmy missed a straight one going for another maximum. The innings ended soon after but not before The Dodger batting at 11 showed us his Miami Vice slant on cricket fashion thus leaving the visitors with 49 over to achieve the target. With the ibuprofen being dealt to the teams more senior members, The Blue Caps took the field with optimism considering the bowling available, The Skipper looking to rotate if success did not come easily. Harding set off like a train cuffing anything loose to the boundary, whilst Scorer looked to play off the back foot. The Dodger now sporting borrowed socks, got the breakthrough with Zac taking the catch. Holman played watchfully punishing the bad ball whilst Scorer nudged and nurdled keeping up with the rate. Tymsy introduced himself and Jimmy D both bowling accurately, however in this 10 over period the Cholmondeley batsman seemed happy to play out time when a victory was well on the cards. Realising that the win was unlikely ‘G’ re-introduced The Dodger and Nick only for the few chances offered to be spilled. Finally catches by Gibson and George were held with bowling points on offer. Tresidder and Robinson saw out the overs with a final spurt put on for extra batting points. This result
didn’t really help either side with both teams now in the relegation zone,
but all to play for in the coming weeks. |
