Ashley vs Bredbury St Marks

Date:  Sunday 9th August 2009

Venue: Bredbury

Toss won by: Bredbury

Batted First: Bredbury

Ashley failed in their attempt to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom of the table as Bredbury comfortably chased down a low score from Ashley.

Martin Howe sensationally top scored for Ashley with a career best 29 including 6 fours, several of them spanked through extra cover. Overall it was a disappointing performance with the bat, only Cusack can say he was out to a good ball, he was bowled by one that pitched middle and hit the top of off stump to give him a 12 over duck.

Despite a good start from Cusack and Tierney, reducing the home side to 38 for 3 dismissing Currie, Moore and Tomlinson, Cox and Beckett knocked the runs off in the 27th over, having earlier bowled 37 overs between them; with Currie and Tomlinson bowling the remaining overs, there were a few TFC’s for the Stockport side

With 3 games left Ashley 4ths are 8th in the league just ahead of Bredbury and only realistically Nantwich ahead of them to catch
