After losing the toss, Ashley were put into bat on a good looking wicket. With a few players missing, the captain stepped up with Harry Hatchell to open the batting. Hatchell missed a straight one early on before rain stopped play for half an hour. This gave George power a gluteus maximus workout putting the covers on.

Play resumed, and Dave Jackson put on 69 with Horn before been caught at mid on for 42. A couple of quick wickets put Ashley 80 for 4. Alistair reached 50 and out, bringing Chris Pendlebury (18n.o) and George Power (16n.o) together got the score up to 155 for 6.

Rob McKie and George Power opened, bowling good lines and giving little away. Power got the early break through trapping Reissing LBW.  Tight fielding from the Ashley Juniors George Aspden and Mike Coffey helped to keep pressure on.  A bowling change for Mckie brought Josh Wardle on who their opener butcher took a swing at hitting 14 off the over. This took Winnington to 62 off 18 overs. Pendlebury was brought on to keep the runs down and took two wickets in his first over, Martin Blain with a catch stood up. Mckie came back on and got the wicket off Butcher for 66, caught by Wardle at mid on over his shoulder. Power was brought back on and took a wicket with his first ball, caught and bowled. With one wicket to get, Mckie kept us waiting to the last ball off the game to bowl Winnington all out and give Ashley the full 25 points.
