Ashley successfully chased 215 on Saturday in less than 40 overs to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

An opening stand of 148 saw the team post its highest score batting second since the famous away win at Congleton early in 2008. Bradshaw brought his 50 up in 64 balls and 61 minutes with Barber, taking another 20 minutes for his but requiring 2 balls less. Between them they hit 28 fours and 1 six, the wicket and outfield as good and fast as it has ever been. Wigfield smashed 44 in only 34 balls to take Ashley to the brink of a 25-point win before Shakespeare and Dick Dastardly finished the job.

Earlier Malpas started steadily, posting 29 in the first 15 overs, before Barlow, Hunt and Crabb got stuck in, adding 97 in the last 15 overs.

Ashley have 4 games left to pick up the 80 or so points they need to stay up, but once again the sides in trouble around them picked up points, Barrow worked especially hard to score 140 batting second to beat Mere after being 90 for 9; Davenham beat Alvanley and Trafford shared the points after drawing with Winnington.
