Ashley vs Nantwich 4ths

Date:  Sunday 23rd August

Venue: Ashley

Toss won by: Ashley

Batted First: Ashley

Another below par batting performance from the 4ths gifted Nantwich 25 points on Sunday. With the visitors missing the Penguin Ashley fancied their chances and batted first on the wicket used the day before to produce 430 runs in 85 overs.

There was no repeat performance as the home team were all out in 35 overs, young George Aspden showing the benefits of net practice and some advice from Ashley’s overseas player. He hit 4 fours all through the cover boundary when adding 33 for the 4th wicket with Semple, another Under 15 who showed a good return to form with 19. The tail was blown away though before there was any chance of a slog and then Nantwich knocked the score off in 17 overs.

This was Ashley’s chance to stake a claim for 7th place in the table, but with one game remaining, a trip to the talented Cheadle Hulme, they will be lucky to avoid last place again
