Ashley vs Hale Barns

Date:  Saturday 25th July

Venue: Brookes Drive , Hale Barns

Toss won by: Ashley

Batted First: Hale Barns

Ashley‘s season is now one that has them fighting to avoid relegation after a dismal performance at local rivals Hale Barns.

After winning the toss it went down hill for Ashley; with the Barns’ chunky opener missing, allegedly because his first punch wasn’t good enough, new opening partners Iqbal and Robinson adding 34 in 33 minutes to kick start their innings. The top six all got into double figures, Stubbs aided by two dropped catches.

In reply Ashley’s overseas player got his first duck, a golden one at that, of the season and of the batsmen only Barber, Shakespeare and McKinstry batted with any authority, although Logan was unlucky to be given out leg before “not playing a shot.” You can accuse Roy of many things, but not playing a shot isn’t one of them.

With this win Hale Barns go above Ashley in the table and with the three bottom teams below registering wins, two of them 25 pointers, Ashley now occupies 8th spot, 10 points off a relegation place.
