Ashley vs Cheadle Hulme 4ths

Date: Sunday 31st May 2009

Venue: Devil’s Acre, Grove Park, Cheadle Hulme

Toss won by: Ashley

Batted First: Ashley

The fourths failed to build on the great start they had made to the season as the were thrashed by 9 wickets and in only 3 and a half hours; and that included the long walk to the pavilion for tea. The openers made a great start batting sensibly and putting good and bad balls away scoring 30 in 10 overs, but then a procession of batters gave their wicket away, late resistance from Coleman, Hawksley and Smith, along with Eadie’s hard earned 2 couldn’t hide the fact that we were woefully short of a good score.

This was proved in barely 11 overs as Bailey smashed the ball all over the small ground, he did gift Hawksley a C&B though and Ashley left with 3 points; they face a run of 4 away games now, starting with local rivals Mobberley next Sunday
